Treatment should start with addressing the problem(s) that caused the gum recession. If overactive brushing is the cause, the patient should consider purchasing a softer toothbrush and use a more gentle brushing technique. If poor plaque control was a contributing factor, improved oral hygiene must be performed, combined with regular professional dental cleanings as prophylaxis. If severe calculus (tartar) was the cause, then a procedure called scaling and root planing may be necessary to clean the teeth and heal inflammation in the gingiva (gums). If malocclusion (incorrect bite) was a factor, an occlusal adjustment (bite adjustment) or bite splint may be recommended.

If cause-specific measures are insufficient, soft-tissue graft surgery may be used to create more gingiva.[1] The tissue used may be autologous tissue from another site in the patient's mouth, or it can be freeze-dried tissue products or synthetic membranes.[1] New research is focused on using stem cells to culture the patients' own gums to replace receded gums

Good dental care at home and the dentist’s office is the best way to
keep your mouth healthy. Make it a point to:

Cut down on acidic drinks and foods, like sodas and citrus fruits and
juices. When you do have something with acid, have it at mealtimes to
make it easier on your enamel. You can also switch to products like
low-acid orange juice.
Rinse your mouth with water right after you eat or drink something acidic.
Use a straw for sodas and fruit juices so they bypass the teeth. Don’t
swish them around in your mouth.
Finish a meal with a glass of milk or a piece of cheese to cancel out acids.
Chew sugar-free gum with xylitol, which lowers the amount of acid in
your mouth. Gum also helps you make more saliva, which strengthens
your teeth with key minerals.
Drink more water during the day if you have dry mouth.
Use a soft toothbrush, and try not to brush too hard.
Wait at least an hour to brush after you've had acidic foods or
drinks. They soften the enamel and make it more prone to damage from
your toothbrush.
Use fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash. Your dentist can tell you which
products can protect your teeth and make them less sensitive.
Get treatment for conditions like bulimia, alcoholism, or GERD.

Dental crowns play a major part in modern dentistry as they help restore a tooth and protect it from future damage. However, there are lots of choices for patients who are ready to be fitted with a tooth crown.

Stainless steel crowns are often used as a temporary fix on a tooth that is damaged. These are considered to be a very affordable option and can also be used while the permanent crown is being constructed. It only takes one visit to fit you with a stainless steel crown.

One of the most popular options available today is porcelain and ceramic crowns. These bear a very close resemblance to natural teeth and have evolved to become very durable. Some dentists can even construct these on site, and they are also an excellent alternative for people who are allergic to metal.

Other metal alloys makeup crowns such as gold, nickel, and palladium. These kinds of crowns will not chip or break and require a less amount of modification. These are used on molars and are highly visible.
For those seeking a more affordable option, composite resin crowns will reduce their costs. However, these are not as strong as other crowns and may need to be replaced in the future.

There is even the option of having a combination crown, which includes more than just one material. Most of these crowns are made out of porcelain and then fused to metal. It provides a sturdier option to ceramic crowns and still looks very natural. Most times, these crowns are recommended to go overtop your back teeth.

There are also instances when a patient might find themselves needing something stronger than a filling, but not quite as extreme as a crown. In that case, a porcelain on lay is a viable option. This serves as a type of partial cover that is custom made to fit over the tooth.

If you find yourself at an impasse regarding which crown is right for you, your dentist can run down which option is best in terms of price, durability, and appearance.

The friendly team of dentists at Fine Dental Arts can walk you through the process of selecting a crown while explaining the benefits of each different option. For the best selection of tooth crowns Bellevue provides, stop by Fine Dental Arts and let our staff start working for you.

There are many over-the-counter products on the market that claim to have the capability of whitening your teeth. However, it’s important to know exactly what kind of products you are using. Without the guidance of a trained professional, many people put themselves at risk with these products.

There is an abundance of people who have had poor experiences with over-the-counter teeth whitening kits. Some of those kits contain gels that are made just for the teeth and can damage gums. Casual users are often unaware of this fact and can experience issues with their gums. Over-the counter mouth trays are also not custom made to fit your teeth.

Professional dentists can design a tray to match up precisely with your teeth since they are made from an actual mold taken of your mouth. These trays allow the gel to stay right on your teeth where they belong.

Stains can accumulate on teeth as products such as coffee; berries and wine can take their toll. These stains often require stronger whitening gels and substances, which are not available at your local pharmacy. Dentists can offer more powerful gels that are capable of removing even the most stubborn stains. Those gels also have the right amount of hydrogen peroxide and will not damage teeth by eroding the enamel or causing discoloration in the future.

Having a professional administer your teeth whitening procedure takes out all the guesswork. There is no trial and error. Professional supervision also makes for a safer and more productive experience. There is an exact isolation of the teeth which works to protect periodontal tissue from being damaged.

It is also recommended that teeth and gums are healthy before beginning the whitening process. A professional dentist can complete any restorative work as a prelude to starting teeth whitening service.

There are not a great deal of items you can buy to truly enhance your confidence. However, being able to show off a bright smile can do wonders for boosting confidence levels. Your smile is something that never leaves you, so an investment in your smile is an investment in you.

When you decide on the option of teeth whitening, Bellevue has the right place for you. Fine Dental Arts can provide you with the smile you have always wanted. Residents of the Redmond and Kirkland communities can also take advantage of our affordable teeth whitening service in Bellevue.

Root canal is often thought of as one of the most painful and unpleasant experiences anyone can endure. That couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many common misconceptions people have developed  about root canal.

First and foremost, root canals are not a source of pain. When you are in need of a root canal, you are usually already in pain. That pain is nothing that you will feel during your actual root canal. The entire area is numbed before the dentist begins any work, so you will not feel a thing. Remember that the pain of your root canal comes from an untreated infection and not the actual procedure itself. It is a way of saving your tooth.

There also no health risks associated with root canal. Undergoing this type of procedure will not lead to heart disease, kidney disease or any other issues in the future. The tooth is completely disinfected, leaving behind nothing that could cause other health complications. The tooth is also not deadened even though the crown is used to finish off the procedure.

Many people fail to realize that a tooth treated with root canal can be retreated years later. This process is referred to as a retreatment, which is a re-cleaning of the root.

Another myth that surrounds root canals involves tooth extraction. A common misconception is that pulling a tooth would be a better alternative. This may be a quicker procedure, but it will leave you with a sizeable space somewhere in your mouth. Not only is that unsightly, but it could lead to problems with chewing or talking. Most people who believe this myth believe the myth that root canals are painful.

Root canals do not have to be a costly expense. It is less expensive than pulling a tooth and replacing it with a dental implant or dental bridge. Costs of root canal can fluctuate.

Pregnant women can also benefit from root canal without having to worry about any side effects. Since the infection is what calls for the need of a root canal, it is healthier for an unborn baby. Root canal kills the infection.

If you are looking for a root canal Bellevue dentist, Fine Dental Arts has a solution for you. We can show you how painless and simple this procedure can be. Root canal in Redmond, Kirkland and Bellevue can be done with comfort and ease with affordable pricing at Fine Dental Arts.
